Today's Misunderstanding
Today, people mistreat the beauty in the world. They take things for granted and think that it is okay to disrespect and harm living creatures. Animal abuse is a huge issue in today's society that needs to be understood. A lot of people think that animal abuse is simply harming an animal, but that is the smallest definition of it. The full extent of animal abuse is so large a lot of it goes unknown. Harming an animal in anyway, is horrifying and inhumane. These photo's demonstrate that still in today's society people diminish animal rights and control the way they are treated.
To begin, many animals are taken away from their families and homes to be used for entertainment. They should not be taken away from their lives to be used for purposes like being in the circus or caged up in the zoo. They should be out in the wild where they are meant to be. A lot of people do not know that this is considered animal abuse, but it is. These animals are being taken away from their happiness to be brought to an unfamiliar place where they will be yelled at, beat and whipped to learn how to do tricks and shows for our entertainment. Animals that are in the circus or zoo spend 96% of their time in a cage or chained up. Circus trainers use whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks and many other painful tools to force an animal to learn and perform a show. The image symbolizes how animals are trapped without any right to go where they want, or to run away from horrible things that happen to them. The chain around the elephants foot is tight and shows how they are caged up and poorly treated. The image also lacks a scene of wild life or happiness to display what animals are feeling when not in there natural habitat. Animals deserve to be in their wild life homes so that they can live their lives in happiness and not be scared to move without being harmed.
To continue, a large proportion of us use everyday cosmetic's without thinking if they are safe or not because we know that they have already been tested. But, a lot of these everyday cosmetics are tested on different animals like rabbits, mice, rats, cats, dogs, and genie pigs. We all know that testing on animals is bad, but do we really know how bad it is? Every year, over 100 million animals are harmed as in crippled, burned, and poisoned in scientific labs for testing. For a lot of testing, if the product is unsafe and harms the animal with pain, they will be given no pain relief and will not stop until they are finished their test.
A lot of animals that go into testing experience and suffer from isolation, boredom, anxiety, separation fears and sleeplessness. Animals that go into testing have no choice. The animals used for these experiments come from many different places ranging from city pounds, to zoo's and circus's because the animals are no longer wanted. Animals go from on horrible home to basically a death sentence. In my opinion, animal testing is one of the worst types of abuse because the animals are in so much pain they can barely move. This image symbolizes how bad abuse gets. The rabbit is in so much pain, that the lab person has to hold up his head for him. His fur is coming off, and his skin is pink as well as his eyes. Many people are aware of how bad animal testing is, which is why i think that testing on animals should be banned and there should be an alternative for it.
Now, this is where animal abuse goes to its full extent. A lot of people don't talk about or know that much about slaughterhouses. There are many different types of slaughterhouses for different animals, so we will focus on pigs. The average pigs will live for 10-15 years but factory pigs will only live for about 6 months. Pigs are very nervous animals so in order for the workers to get them onto the trucks they will beat them and use electric prods to move them. Pig trucks carry tons of pigs at once which doesn't allow the pigs to get very much oxygen. The trucks are sometimes so full that a former pig transporter told PETA that his truck was "packed in so tight, their guts actually pop
out their butts—a little softball of guts actually comes out.”.Traveling to the slaughterhouse the pigs will be given no water or food for usually hundreds of mills. As they reach the house, some pigs are already dead, and some are so weak that they cant move because their lungs just cant take it. Slaughterhouses are something people don't think of animal abuse because that's how we get our food. But, these pigs suffer so much, their beaten, mistreated, without water and food for hours on end, and a lot of them go to the "tank" alive which is for softening there skin and skinning them, which is very painful. The image above is of pigs who were taken with out any rights, or without any choice of what is going to happen to them next. 1100 pigs are slaughtered every hour at a typical house. Slaughterhouses are huge for animal abuse, but its so terrifying that no one ever wants to talk about it.

In conclusion, these photos clearly show how people take over animals lives and how we give them no rights at all to do what they want. Animal abuse needs to be understood because if its not, it will never go away, and millions of animals are being beat and killed every year because of this issue.
